Maine hurricane guide

The Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) coordinates the state's response to storms, working with sixteen county emergency management agencies and local officials. Maine gets tropical storms and hurricanes only every few years, usually between May and November, and they arrive weakened. MEMA says they bring wind under 74 mph, inland flooding, storm surge, and rip tides that threaten the coast. Check your county page for local alerts and your town for local directions.
