Jalisco hurricane guide¶
Jalisco has a Pacific coast with Puerto Vallarta and the Costalegre, and river valleys and the Guadalajara area inland. Heavy rain from Pacific storms can cause flooding and landslides. The Unidad Estatal de Protección Civil y Bomberos leads state response, with municipal units locally. Follow the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional warnings and its instructions.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Temporary shelters (refugios temporales) in Mexico are announced by state and municipal civil protection when a storm threatens. A shelter is open only when officials announce it. If you live on the coast, near a river, or in a flood prone area, follow the instructions of your Protección Civil and be ready to move early.
