Terms of use¶
Last updated: October 9, 2026
Hurricane Guide is a free safety information site run by Keith Myers. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
General information only¶
Hurricane Guide gives general preparedness information. It is not a forecast, not an emergency service, and not medical, legal, insurance or financial advice. Always follow the instructions of your local emergency officials. Evacuation orders, shelter openings, curfews and other official instructions always come first, even if a page here says something different. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Accuracy¶
We work to keep every page correct and up to date, and we use official public sources. But phone numbers, websites, agencies and guidance change, sometimes quickly during a storm. The site is provided "as is," without any promise that it is complete, current or free of errors. Check important details with the official source, which most pages link to.
Limitation of liability¶
To the fullest extent the law allows, Hurricane Guide and the people who make it are not responsible for any loss, injury or damage that comes from using the site, relying on its information, or being unable to use it. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
Ads and affiliate links¶
To help pay for the site, Hurricane Guide may show ads, including ads served by Google AdSense, and may include affiliate links to products and services such as hurricane supplies, generators and recovery services. As an Amazon Associate, Hurricane Guide earns from qualifying purchases. When you buy through an affiliate link, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
Ads and affiliate links never decide what the guides recommend. Safety advice comes from official sources, and we do not accept payment to change it. A product appearing in an ad or an affiliate link is not a promise that it is right for your situation, and we are not responsible for products or services sold by others, their prices, or their quality. Before you hire anyone after a storm, check that they are licensed and insured, get a written estimate, and never pay the full amount up front.
Links to other sites¶
The site links to government agencies, weather services, utilities, relief organizations and other sites we do not control. A link is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for the content, availability or privacy practices of those sites.
Sharing the guides¶
The text and design of Hurricane Guide are copyright Hurricane Guide. You are welcome to print, save, share and link to pages for personal use and for free, noncommercial safety work, such as a church, school, neighborhood group or community emergency team, as long as you do not change the meaning and you name Hurricane Guide as the source. Please ask before using the content in anything you sell.
Acceptable use¶
Please do not try to break, overload or attack the site, copy it in bulk with automated tools in a way that slows it for others, or use it for anything unlawful.
Privacy¶
How the site handles information is explained in the privacy policy.
Changes to these terms¶
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
