What to know in Oman¶
- Oman's Directorate General of Meteorology says that most cyclones forming in the Bay of Bengal weaken after landfall, and that the chances of the Arabian Sea and Oman being directly affected by cyclones are low. Cyclones can still strike, so follow official warnings.
- Cyclone Shaheen made landfall on the Al Batinah coast at Al-Musannah on 3 October 2021 as a Category 1 cyclone. The Directorate General of Meteorology reports that, according to the National Committee for Emergency Management, 12 deaths were recorded due to flooding. This is a past event.
