Dong Nai typhoon guide¶
Dong Nai, in southern Vietnam, now includes the former Bình Phước province, which was merged into it on 1 July 2025 under National Assembly Resolution 202/2025/QH15. The province is inland and is not hit by the sea, so typhoon effects are mostly heavy rain, flooding, flash floods, landslides, strong squalls, and flood releases from hydropower reservoirs on the Đồng Nai, La Ngà, and Sông Bé rivers. The Ban Chỉ huy Phòng thủ dân sự (Civil Defense Command) directs the response, and the Đài Khí tượng Thủy văn tỉnh Đồng Nai (Dong Nai provincial hydro-meteorological station) gives local forecasts. Official storm and flood notices are published in Vietnamese.

Every phone number and web address on this page was checked against official sources on that date. Details can change, especially during a storm. Always follow instructions from Ban Chỉ huy Phòng thủ dân sự (Civil Defense Command) of Dong Nai, with the Bộ Chỉ huy Quân sự (Military Command) as its standing office. In an emergency, call 112, the national emergency number. It connects to 113 (police), 114 (fire and rescue), and 115 (medical emergency).
What to know in Dong Nai¶
- The provincial portal and a July 2026 directive now call the unit Thành phố Đồng Nai (Dong Nai City) and its command Ban Chỉ huy Phòng thủ dân sự thành phố; directives of 2025 used the name tỉnh Đồng Nai (Dong Nai province). Use the name on the notice you are reading.
- Past event: on 27 November 2025 the provincial People's Committee issued Document 10662/UBND-KTN for typhoon No. 15 in the East Sea (Biển Đông). It told river communes to follow flood releases from hydropower reservoirs, to prepare for heavy rain flooding, flash floods, and landslides, and to move fish cages to safety, and it asked communes to keep staff on duty around the clock.
- Past event: on 12 December 2025 the province issued Document 11754/UBND-KTN on flood on the upper Đồng Nai and La Ngà rivers and high tides on the lower Đồng Nai. The hydro-meteorological station had forecast rising water with a risk of flooding and landslides in riverside communes and wards, and the document asked them to check low-lying areas and prepare evacuation plans.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
No standing list of shelters or evacuation sites was confirmed for this page. Evacuation is organized by the commune and ward People's Committees and the provincial Civil Defense Command under the "4 on the spot" principle (4 tại chỗ), which provincial directives repeat. Follow your commune or ward authorities and the provincial Civil Defense Command for whether to move and where to go.
Radio, TV and weather¶
Keep a battery or hand crank radio. When power and cell service fail, radio is often the only way to hear official updates.
