Trelawny hurricane guide¶
The Trelawny Municipal Corporation runs local government for the parish of Trelawny on Jamaica's north coast, from Water Square in Falmouth. Its Parish Disaster Coordinator and the Trelawny Parish Disaster Committee train shelter managers, inspect shelters each year, map high risk areas, and run the Parish Emergency Operation Center in a disaster. The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) leads national disaster response, and the Meteorological Service of Jamaica issues the official weather alerts, so follow their announcements for each storm.

Every phone number and web address on this page was checked against official sources on that date. Details can change, especially during a storm. Always follow instructions from the Trelawny Municipal Corporation Disaster Preparedness Department. In a life threatening emergency, call 119 for police, or 110 for fire and ambulance.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
ODPEM's Shelters page has the Trelawny shelter list, posted in June 2025, with each shelter's location and the communities it serves. It is a planning list, not a list of open shelters, and it was posted before Hurricane Melissa damaged many buildings in the parish. A shelter is open only when officials announce it, so call the Parish Disaster Coordinator or follow ODPEM and corporation announcements before you go.
