Grand'Anse hurricane guide¶
The Grand'Anse department, at the western tip of the southern peninsula with its capital at Jérémie, has a departmental civil protection directorate under the Direction Générale de la Protection Civile (DGPC). Its departmental emergency operations centre (COUD) in Jérémie was rehabilitated and inaugurated in February 2026. The DGPC names floods, landslides, flash floods, and violent winds as the main storm risks in Haiti, so follow DGPC and national weather service alerts for each storm.

Always follow instructions from the Direction départementale de la Protection civile de la Grand'Anse. In a life threatening emergency, call 114 for police, 115 for fire, or 116 for an ambulance.
