Grenada hurricane guide¶
The National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) coordinates all disaster work on Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, and the government calls it the official source for real time weather and emergency alerts. Disaster management sits under the Ministry of National Security, Home Affairs, Public Administration, Information and Disaster Management. Ambulances are called by hospital, so learn the number for your island before a storm. Hurricane season normally runs from June to November.
Checked on October 3, 2026
Every phone number and web address on this page was checked against official sources on that date. Details can change, especially during a storm. Always follow instructions from the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA). In a life threatening emergency, call 911 for police or fire. For an ambulance, call 434 (St. George's), 724 (Grenville), or 774 (Carriacou).
What to know in Grenada¶
- Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Carriacou and Petite Martinique in July 2024.
- After Beryl in 2024, the state of emergency stayed in effect longer for Carriacou and Petite Martinique than for mainland Grenada, and medical emergencies from Carriacou were moved to Grenada by boat or aircraft.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Emergency shelters open only when officials announce them. The government's most recent published list of emergency shelters, made by NaDMA for 2024 to 2025, names shelters in each parish and in Carriacou and Petite Martinique, so you can find the nearest one before a storm. Follow NaDMA for which shelters are open.
