Temporary shelters (refugios temporales) in Mexico are announced by state and municipal Protección Civil for each storm. The state posts a Catálogo de Refugios Temporales 2026 on its shelter page, as a planning list only. A shelter is open only when officials announce it. If you live on the coast, near a river, or on a slope, follow the instructions of Protección Civil and local authorities, and call 911 if you need help.
