Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

Temporary shelters (refugios temporales) in Mexico are announced by state and municipal Protección Civil for each storm. We have no confirmed state phone number or shelter list. A shelter is open only when officials announce it. If you live on the coast, near a river, or on a slope, follow the instructions of Protección Civil and local authorities, and call 911 if you need help.
