Nayarit hurricane guide¶
Nayarit is a Pacific coast state north of Jalisco, with Tepic, San Blas, and the Riviera Nayarit. Coastal areas, river valleys, and low areas can flood in heavy rain from Pacific storms. State Protección Civil y Bomberos and municipal offices lead response. Follow the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional warnings and local instructions.

Every phone number and web address on this page was checked against official sources on that date. Details can change, especially during a storm. Always follow instructions from Protección Civil y Bomberos del Estado de Nayarit. In an emergency, call 911.
Emergency and information numbers¶
| Service | Number | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency | 911 | Police, fire, and ambulance. Call only when someone's life or property is in danger. The state's C5 center in Tepic answers 24 hours and routes reports to Protección Civil y Bomberos and others. |
Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Temporary shelters (refugios temporales) in Mexico are announced by state and municipal civil protection when a storm threatens. A shelter is open only when officials announce it. If you live on the coast, near a river, or in a flood prone area, follow the instructions of your Protección Civil and be ready to move early.
