Federated States of Micronesia typhoon guide¶

The national government's Department of Environment, Climate Change and Emergency Management (DECEM) is in Palikir, Pohnpei. The four states, Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae, run their own emergency response, and the national government's National Disaster Committee works with them when a state declares an emergency. National Weather Service offices in Yap, Chuuk, and Pohnpei (which also covers Kosrae) issue forecasts and typhoon watches and warnings. For Typhoon Sinlaku in April 2026, the President declared a national state of emergency after Chuuk State declared one. The Federated States of Micronesia is on this one page.

Keep a battery or hand crank radio. When power and cell service fail, radio is often the only way to hear official updates.
