Samoa cyclone guide

The Disaster Management Office (DMO) is a division of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) and coordinates disaster risk management in Samoa. Its staff are at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) in Tuanaimato. The Samoa Meteorology Division of MNRE gives the weather forecasts and publishes a Tropical Cyclone Outlook and severe weather information. Samoa's emergency number has been 911 since 1 January 2018, replacing 994, 995, and 996. Samoa is on this one page.

What to know in Samoa

  • The Office of the Regulator says that as of 1 January 2018 the Samoa emergency numbers 994, 995, and 996 are no longer available and are replaced with 911.
  • The DMO says its Community Disaster Preparedness section works with villages to identify hazards, form village disaster committees and response teams, and target the most vulnerable people.
