Betsiboka cyclone guide¶
Betsiboka is an inland region in the northwest of Madagascar. The national disaster agency, the Bureau National de Gestion des Risques et des Catastrophes (BNGRC), coordinates cyclone and flood response. BNGRC reports that cyclone Fytia affected Betsiboka in late January and early February 2026, including the district of Maevatanana. Follow Météo Madagascar alerts and BNGRC notices.

- Past event: BNGRC said on 3 February 2026 that it distributed 108 tonnes and 400 kg of food and basic goods after cyclone Fytia to people in the regions Boeny and Betsiboka, including Maevatanana, from its store at Mahajanga.
- Past event: BNGRC said on 3 February 2026 that in the district of Maevatanana, 19 communes counted 12,566 people affected (2,709 households), 2 deaths, and 2 injured after cyclone Fytia.
