Newfoundland and Labrador hurricane guide¶
Fire and Emergency Services, Newfoundland and Labrador (FES-NL), part of the Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands, develops and maintains the province's emergency management system. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November, and tropical storms and hurricanes bring high winds, heavy rain, flooding and storm surge. Storm surge can happen without much notice, so people near the coast should have a plan to move inland and to higher ground.
