Montgomery County hurricane guide

The Montgomery County Department of Public Safety is the county's 9-1-1 center and emergency management agency, and its Division of Emergency Management runs the Emergency Operations Center and coordinates response and recovery. Its Urban Search and Rescue Team handles flood and swift water incidents. The county's pages do not publish evacuation zones or a standing shelter list, so sign up for ReadyMontco alerts and follow county announcements in a storm.

Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

Montgomery County's emergency management pages do not publish a list of shelters. The county says its Division of Emergency Management works with VOAD partners and the American Red Cross, so check ReadyMontco alerts and county announcements to learn whether any shelter is open. Do not go to a site until it is announced.
