Long Beach hurricane guide¶
Long Beach is a barrier island on the south shore of Long Island, and the city says this leaves it exposed to hurricanes. FEMA maps put the entire city in a flood zone, with virtually all of it in the higher risk AE zone. The city has its own Office of Emergency Management, police department, and public works department. Nassau County's evacuation zones and shelter information are on the county page.
