Middlesex County hurricane guide¶
The Middlesex County Office of Emergency Management and Preparedness helps the county's twenty-five municipalities plan for and respond to emergencies, and each municipality has its own emergency management coordinator. The county pages describe preparedness steps and point to the American Red Cross for hurricane safety, but do not publish evacuation zones or a shelter list. Ask your town's emergency management office about evacuation orders and shelters, and sign up for your town's alerts.

Every phone number and web address on this page was checked against official sources on that date. Details can change, especially during a storm. Always follow instructions from Middlesex County Office of Emergency Management and Preparedness. In a life threatening emergency, call 911.
What to know in Middlesex County¶
- The county's Emergency: Be Ready page lists the municipal emergency management coordinators and township offices, so you can sign up for your town's emergency alerts. Hurricane and flood safety links on that page go to the American Red Cross.
Emergency and information numbers¶
| Service | Number | Notes |
|---|---|---|

Official alerts and information¶
- Middlesex County Emergency: Be Ready: The county does not run one countywide alert system on this page. It lists each town's emergency management contact so you can sign up for your town's alerts. Website.
- Municipal OEM Coordinators and Township Offices: Click your town to reach its emergency management website or contact person. Website.
Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
The Middlesex County pages do not list shelters. Municipalities run their own emergency management offices, and the county's Emergency Services Bureau supports them with sheltering equipment. Use your town's alerts and its emergency management office to find out whether a shelter is open before you go.

Help to evacuate¶
- Public Safety Alliance for Individuals with Disabilities: A free, voluntary database for anyone with a disability who lives, works, or attends school in Middlesex County, so police and first responders can help in an emergency. Enroll online, or call your local police department and ask for the Community Outreach liaison. The county's Be Ready page links to it as the Special Needs Registry. Website.
