Cagayan typhoon guide

Cagayan is in the northeast of Luzon, along the Pacific side where many typhoons first reach land. The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of the provincial government says it works 24 hours a day and runs a 24/7 operation center, and its Sub Capitol is in Bangag, Lal-lo. Task Force Lingkod Cagayan hotlines are listed for several towns, including Tuguegarao. Follow PAGASA and local announcements.

What to know in Cagayan

  • The Cagayan PDRRMO site shows the line 'Call Now' 0975-434-8083 in its header and 0927-181-9424 as its contact number; one other place on the same page prints a shortened 0927181424. Use 0927-181-9424 and 911 first.
  • PAGASA says the only way to reduce the effects of a storm surge is to check weather updates, prepare early, and evacuate to high ground when a mandatory evacuation is called.
  • The PDRRMO site reports a new PDRRMO building inaugurated on April 18, 2026.

Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

PAGASA's storm surge page tells people in a storm surge prone area to identify the safest and quickest way to high ground and to prepare to evacuate as soon as their Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council or barangay officials advise it. A shelter or evacuation center is open only when your local officials announce it.
