Mineral County hurricane guide

Mineral County Emergency Management is the county's local emergency management agency. Mineral County is inland, along the North Branch Potomac River, so heavy rain, including rain from the remains of tropical storms, can bring flash flooding and river flooding. We could not find a working official county website, so the state list is the source of the number below.

Checked on October 9, 2026

Every phone number and web address on this page was checked against official sources on that date. Details can change, especially during a storm. Always follow instructions from Mineral County Emergency Management. In a life threatening emergency, call 911.

Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

Mineral County does not publish a standing list of storm shelters that we could confirm. Shelters open only when officials announce them, so do not go to a site until it is announced as open. Check county alerts and local news for announcements.

Cities and towns

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
