Dinwiddie County hurricane guide¶
Dinwiddie County Fire & EMS / Emergency Management runs emergency management for the county and its Everbridge notification system. Dinwiddie is inland, so tropical storms and hurricane remnants bring heavy rain, flooding, and wind. The county posts emergency information on its homepage and social media, and says it will send flyers or verbal updates if power outages limit phone and internet access.

Every phone number and web address on this page was checked against official sources on that date. Details can change, especially during a storm. Always follow instructions from Dinwiddie County Fire & EMS / Emergency Management. In a life threatening emergency, call 911.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
The county pages I reviewed do not list shelters. The county says it will share emergency information through its notification system, homepage, and social media. Check those for storm-specific shelter and evacuation announcements.
Cities and towns¶
Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
