Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
The town lists possible warming, evacuation or overnight shelter sites as Calais Elementary School, Calais Town Hall, Maple Corner Community Center and Barre Auditorium, and says notices come through Vermont 211, the town website and VT-ALERT. Which shelters are available depends on the event. Do not go to a site until it is announced as open.
