Jasper County hurricane guide

Jasper County Emergency Management & Homeland Security, with offices in Jasper and Buna, plans for disasters in the county and sends alerts through STAN, the Southeast Texas Alerting Network. The county is inland, but storms that move in from the Gulf can still bring heavy rain, flooding, high winds, and tornadoes. The county asks you to learn your evacuation routes and designated shelters now, stock your hurricane kit, and make a family disaster plan.

Jasper County does not post a shelter list on its website. Shelters are announced for each storm through STAN and the county's emergency management updates. Do not go to a site until it is announced as open. If you live in a mobile home or an area that floods, plan where you will go before a storm.
