Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
The city says that if an evacuation is necessary, local officials arrange with the Red Cross and The Salvation Army for a shelter, and that its location depends on the type of emergency. Shelters are announced for each event. Never assume a shelter is open.
