Kiawah Island hurricane guide¶
Kiawah Island is a barrier island town in evacuation Zone A. The town says only the governor can order a mandatory evacuation, after which the Mayor issues a proclamation and closes the island. The town warns that after an evacuation order there will be no medical, fire, rescue, or police help on the island and utilities may be shut off. The island is covered by the Charleston County evacuation zones, which the county page describes.
