Wayne County hurricane guide¶
The Wayne County Emergency Management Agency plans for and coordinates response to emergencies in the county. The county says Wayne County frequently gets heavy rains, especially from the remnants of hurricanes and tropical storms, and asks you to avoid flooded roadways and Turn Around Don't Drown. What to know in Wayne County¶
- The county says Wayne County frequently gets heavy rains, especially from the remnants of hurricanes and tropical storms. If you see a flooded roadway, turn around and do not drive through it.
- The county Weather page lists NOAA Weather Radio at 162.5500 and asks everyone to keep an emergency preparedness kit in the home and in the car.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Wayne County's emergency management pages do not publish a list of shelters. Check Code RED alerts and county announcements to learn whether any shelter is open. Do not go to a site until it is announced.
