Rowan County hurricane guide¶
Rowan County Emergency Services, in Salisbury, includes the 9-1-1, Emergency Medical, Fire, and Emergency Management divisions. The Emergency Management Division plans for and responds to disasters, keeps the county Emergency Operations Plan, and runs the county Emergency Operations Center. The county lists high winds and flash floods among the disasters it prepares for. This is an inland Piedmont county with no storm surge evacuation zones. Sign up for RoCo Alerts before a storm.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Rowan County does not publish a list of shelters in advance. The Emergency Management page says response activities may include sheltering victims. Watch RoCo Alerts and county announcements for information about shelters, and do not go to a site until it is announced.

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
