Nash County hurricane guide

Nash County Emergency Management, part of Nash County Emergency Services in Nashville, plans for and responds to major disasters and stays on call around the clock. The county is inland with no storm surge evacuation zones, so flooding and high winds are the main hurricane dangers. If you live in a mobile home, the county says to check your tie-downs and leave for a safe place when a hurricane threatens.

Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

Nash County does not publish a list of hurricane shelters. If you must evacuate, the county says to go directly to a shelter as directed by local authorities. Call the emergency management office or check ReadyNC's list of open shelters across the state.
