Greene County hurricane guide¶
Greene County Emergency Services in Snow Hill coordinates local, state, and federal help to respond to and recover from disasters, and also oversees fire inspections and the county's volunteer fire departments. Greene is inland and is not one of North Carolina's Know Your Zone evacuation counties, so heavy rain, flooding, and high winds are the main dangers when a hurricane or tropical storm comes through. Sign up for CodeRED to get county alerts.

Greene County does not publish a standing list of hurricane shelters. If shelters open, North Carolina Emergency Management lists them on the ReadyNC open shelters page, and the county can send alerts through CodeRED.
