Beacon hurricane guide¶
Beacon is a Hudson River city in Dutchess County. The city's Emergencies and Hazards Help Center says that if you live close to the Fishkill Creek or the Hudson River you may live in the flood zone, and should be ready to secure your home or business and evacuate quickly. It also says residents should plan for flooding whether or not they live in the flood zone.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
The city says shelters will be designated by City of Beacon and Dutchess County officials, and points to the Hudson Valley Red Cross map for open shelters. Unless clearly stated, shelters do not have room for household pets. Check city and county alerts to find out whether a shelter is open.
