Garrett County hurricane guide¶
The Garrett County Department of Emergency Management handles emergency management, interoperable communications, and advanced life support emergency medical services. 911 calls go to the Sheriff's Office Communications Center. Garrett is Maryland's western mountain county with no Know Your Zone evacuation zones. No county alert signup was found on the county sites during research.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Garrett County's emergency management pages that were reviewed do not list shelters or say how shelters are announced. Call the Department of Emergency Management at 301-334-7619 for local guidance.

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
