Troup County hurricane guide¶
The Troup County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) prepares for, responds to, and helps the county recover from natural and manmade hazards, and works behind the scenes on emergency plans, training, and coordination. Troup is inland in west Georgia, along the Alabama line. The county sends emergency alerts by text, email, and voice, including evacuation, shelter in place, and boil water orders, so sign up before a storm.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Troup County's EMA page does not publish a list of storm shelters. It says county alerts can cover evacuation and shelter in place instructions. Check county alerts and the county website to find out whether any shelter is open, and do not go to one until it is announced.
Cities and towns¶
Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
