Meriwether County hurricane guide¶
The Meriwether County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) coordinates emergency preparedness and response for the county and its cities and towns. Meriwether is inland in west Georgia, and the county describes its EMA as best known for severe weather assistance and preparedness programs. Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Meriwether County's EMA page does not publish a list of storm shelters. Check CivicReady alerts and the county website to find out whether any shelter is open, and do not go to one until it is announced.
Cities and towns¶
Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
