Habersham County hurricane guide¶
The Habersham County Emergency Management Agency plans for severe weather, flooding, hazardous materials incidents, and other hazards, and coordinates the county response in a disaster. Sign up for the county's alert system to get texts or calls during emergencies. The office is on EOC Drive near Cornelia.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Habersham County does not publish a list of designated shelters or a shelter page on the pages checked. If an evacuation or shelter is announced, the county says it will use its emergency alerts, so sign up for them and check the county website. Do not travel to a site until it is announced as open.
Cities and towns¶
Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
