Barrow County hurricane guide

The Barrow County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) plans for and coordinates the county's response to emergencies and disasters for Barrow County and its cities and towns. Barrow is inland, northeast of Atlanta, and the county's emergency management page lists severe weather, tornadoes, and flooding among the hazards it plans for. The county asks residents to know the hazards, have more than one way to get emergency information, keep a supply kit, and make a household plan.

Barrow County's emergency management page does not publish a list of storm shelters. Check Barrow County Alerts and the county website to find out whether any shelter is open, and do not go to one until it is announced.

Cities and towns

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
