Official alerts and information¶
- Madison CivicReady alerts: Free city alerts by text, email, or phone call, such as emergency alerts. Sign up before a storm. Website.
Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
The city's website links to the Madison County Emergency Management Agency's list of tornado shelters. These are tornado shelters, not hurricane evacuation shelters. Check city and county alerts to find out whether any shelter is open.
