Ilocos Norte typhoon guide¶
Ilocos Norte is the northwest corner of Luzon, facing the South China Sea. The provincial government site lists Laoag City and Batac City among its local governments. The province site did not publish a provincial disaster office name or hotline on the pages checked, so use 911 and your city or municipal disaster office. Follow PAGASA bulletins and local announcements.

Every phone number and web address on this page was checked against official sources on that date. Details can change, especially during a storm. Always follow instructions from the Ilocos Norte provincial government and local disaster offices, with PAGASA for weather warnings. In a life threatening emergency, call 911.
What to know in Ilocos Norte¶
- PAGASA says the only way to reduce the effects of a storm surge is to check weather updates, prepare early, and evacuate to high ground when a mandatory evacuation is called.
Emergency and information numbers¶
| Service | Number | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency | 911 | Unified 911 for police, fire, medical, and disaster response, as the Department of the Interior and Local Government describes it. Free and answered around the clock. Call only when someone's life or property is in danger. |
Official alerts and information¶
- PAGASA Severe Weather Bulletin: PAGASA's bulletin for typhoons and tropical storms. Check the issue time on each one. Website.
Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
PAGASA's storm surge page tells people in a storm surge prone area to identify the safest and quickest way to high ground and to prepare to evacuate as soon as their Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council or barangay officials advise it. A shelter or evacuation center is open only when your local officials announce it.
