Eastern Samar typhoon guide¶
Eastern Samar faces the Philippine Sea and the Pacific Ocean on the east side of Samar island, and its provincial site says the province suffers heavily from powerful typhoons. It has 22 municipalities and one city, Borongan, where the provincial capitol stands. The provincial site lists provincial office phone numbers but no disaster office page, so use 911 in an emergency. Typhoon warnings come from PAGASA. Follow your municipal and barangay officials.
Checked on October 10, 2026
Every phone number and web address on this page was checked against official sources on that date. Details can change, especially during a storm. Always follow instructions from Provincial Government of Eastern Samar (a provincial disaster office was not found on the provincial site, so none is named). In a life threatening emergency, call 911.
What to know in Eastern Samar¶
- The provincial government's website says Dolores, Eastern Samar faces the Pacific Ocean, where Super Typhoon Yolanda made its first landfall in November 2013 and Typhoon Ruby in 2014.
- PAGASA says storm surge becomes more dangerous when it arrives on top of a high tide, and advises people to prepare to evacuate as soon as the municipal disaster council or barangay officials advise it.
Emergency and information numbers¶

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
PAGASA tells people to know the concrete, reinforced multi-story buildings their local government has designated for evacuation. Evacuation centres are announced by your municipal or city disaster office and barangay officials. This page does not list any as open.
Cities and towns¶
Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
