Batangas typhoon guide

Batangas is a Calabarzon province on Batangas Bay, Balayan Bay, Tayabas Bay, and the shore of Taal Lake, with the provincial capitol in Batangas City. Typhoon wind, heavy rain, river and lake flooding, landslides in the hills, and storm surge on the coast are its main exposure. The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office is the provincial disaster office. Cities include Batangas City, Lipa, Tanauan, Santo Tomas, and Calaca. What to know in Batangas

  • On 18 July 2025, before Tropical Storm Crising, the provincial government held a preparedness meeting of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council at the capitol in Batangas City. The province said PAGASA and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau briefed members on possible effects on low lying and landslide prone areas, and that maritime safety guidelines and travel advisories were issued.
  • On 10 August 2026 the provincial council met to review assistance after floods from an intensified southwest monsoon (habagat) linked to Severe Tropical Storm Maymay. The province described road clearing and dredging in Lemery and Santa Teresita and relief for evacuees in Lian.

Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

PAGASA's storm surge page tells people in a storm surge prone area to identify the safest and quickest way to high ground, to know which concrete reinforced multi-story buildings the local government has designated for evacuation, and to prepare to evacuate as soon as their Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council or barangay officials advise it. A shelter or evacuation center is open only when your local officials announce it.
