Marion County hurricane guide¶
The Marion County Emergency Management Agency, at 2523 East Highway 76 in Marion, coordinates crisis response and runs the county Emergency Operations Center. When the EOC is activated, the county publishes special emergency numbers that work only during emergencies. The county works with the American Red Cross to see that civilian shelters are established.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Marion County says it works with the American Red Cross so that civilian shelters are established. The county does not publish a shelter list. Use the state shelter page for announced shelters. Do not go to a shelter until it is announced as open.

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
