The Richmond County Department of Emergency Services, in Warsaw on the Northern Neck, includes the Office of Emergency Management, which provides preparedness, response and recovery services. The county offers a weather alerts signup. County pages reviewed give no zone or shelter details, so call the office or watch county alerts before a storm.

Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

The Richmond County pages reviewed do not list shelters. Call the Department of Emergency Services at 804-333-5089 and watch county alerts. Do not go to a shelter until the county announces it is open.

Cities and towns

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
