Monmouth County hurricane guide¶
The Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management is part of the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office and runs the Know Your Zone campaign for the county's four coastal evacuation zones, A, B, C, and D. The county says evacuation zones are based on storm surge and should not be confused with flood zones. Look up your zone before a storm, and register with the county's E.V.A.C.S. program if you may need help evacuating.

Evacuation zones¶
Monmouth County has four hurricane evacuation zones, A, B, C, and D, shown on county maps. The county says Know Your Zone was built with the coastal towns' emergency management coordinators and reflects the National Hurricane Center's decision to separate storm surge from storm category. Open the page to download each zone's map and look up your address. Evacuation orders for a storm name the zones that must leave. Check county and town alerts for them.
Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
The Monmouth County pages read do not list shelters. The county says its E.V.A.C.S. registry helps planners make shelter plans for residents with access and functional needs, and that you should first try to relocate with family or friends. Check county and town alerts and your town's emergency management office for shelter information before you go.
