Carroll County hurricane guide

The Carroll County Emergency Management Agency (CCEMA) plans and coordinates preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery for the county and its cities, Bowdon, Bremen, Carrollton, Mount Zion, Roopville, Temple, Villa Rica, and Whitesburg. Carroll is inland in west Georgia, so the county's guidance is about severe weather. The county activates outdoor warning sirens when the National Weather Service issues a severe weather warning. The sirens cover only about a 1-square-mile radius each.

Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

Carroll County describes taking shelter from tornadoes in the lowest part of a sturdy building, away from windows and doors, with as many interior walls as possible between you and the outside. The county's pages do not publish a list of storm or evacuation shelters. Check county and city alerts to find out whether any site is open, and do not go to one until it is announced.

Cities and towns

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
