Yoakum County hurricane guide

The Yoakum County website does not publish an emergency management page, an alert signup, or storm guidance. For storm questions, call the County Judge's office at the courthouse in Plains or the Sheriff's Office. Yoakum County is on the high plains far from the coast, but the remains of tropical storms can bring heavy rain and flash flooding, so never drive through flooded roads.

Yoakum County does not publish a standing list of shelters. If shelters open, follow announcements from the county and your city. Do not go to a shelter until it is announced as open.

Cities and towns

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
