Dickens County hurricane guide¶
The Dickens County Office of Emergency Management, run by an Emergency Management Coordinator, works from the courthouse in Dickens in the Texas Rolling Plains. The county is far from the coast, but the remains of a tropical storm can bring heavy rain and flash flooding. The county's emergency page offers a shelter registration form.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
The county's emergency page lists a Shelter Registration Form but does not publish a list of shelters. Call the Office of Emergency Management to ask about shelter, and do not go to a building unless officials say it is open.
Cities and towns¶
Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
