Collin County hurricane guide

Collin County Emergency Management, part of the Fire Marshal's Office in McKinney, plans for and coordinates responses to disasters and emergencies for the towns and cities covered by the county emergency plan. The county says flash floods are the kind of flooding it is most likely to deal with. If water rises, get to higher ground and never drive through flooded roads.

Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

Collin County does not publish a standing list of shelters. If shelters open, follow announcements from the county and your city. Do not go to a shelter until it is announced as open.

Cities and towns

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
