Westmoreland County hurricane guide

The Westmoreland County Department of Public Safety runs the county 911 center and emergency management from Greensburg. The county offers free Everbridge alerts by phone, text, email, or app, and its preparedness page covers making a plan, building a kit, and planning for people with access and functional needs. The county's pages do not publish flood safety steps or a shelter list.

Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

Westmoreland County's public safety pages do not publish a list of shelters. Check Everbridge alerts and county announcements to learn whether any shelter is open. Do not go to a site until it is announced.

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
