Owsley County hurricane guide

Owsley County Judge/Executive is the county office for emergency planning and response in Owsley County, in eastern and central Kentucky, an inland county where the storm risks are flooding, flash flooding, and wind from heavy storms and the remains of tropical storms. The county's official pages do not list a separate emergency management office, so call 911 in an emergency and use the number below to ask the county who to contact. The county's official pages do not publish flood or evacuation guidance, so follow county alerts and National Weather Service warnings, and never drive through flood water.

Checked on October 9, 2026

Every phone number and web address on this page was checked against official sources on that date. Details can change, especially during a storm. Always follow instructions from Owsley County Judge/Executive. In a life threatening emergency, call 911.

Emergency and information numbers

Service Number Notes
Emergency 911 Police, fire, and ambulance. Call only when someone's life or property is in danger.

Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

The county does not publish a list of designated shelters on the official pages we checked. If shelters are opened, the county announces them; do not go to a site until it is announced. Check county alerts, local news, or call the county office listed above.

Cities and towns

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
