Upton County hurricane guide

Upton County Emergency Management sends alerts through CivicReady and publishes a Community Emergency Preparedness Guide in English and Spanish. The county is inland in West Texas, and heavy rain from the remains of a tropical storm can bring flash flooding and severe storms. The guide says that in a flash flood you should move immediately to higher ground and never drive into high water. For emergencies call 911.

Upton County does not publish a shelter list. Its preparedness guide says to know where you will take shelter and to find out whether potential shelters allow pets. Do not go to a building unless officials say it is open.
