Columbia County hurricane guide

The Columbia County Emergency Management Agency in Bloomsburg works with the county 911 center and a local coordinator in each municipality. Columbia County is inland, so the remains of tropical storms are mainly a flash flood and river flood risk along the Susquehanna River, Fishing Creek, and their tributaries. Sign up for CodeRED alerts before a storm.

Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

The Columbia County Emergency Management Agency pages that were checked do not list standing shelters for floods or storms. Shelters are announced when an emergency happens, so do not go to a site until the county announces it. Follow CodeRED alerts and local news, and call the agency if you need help.
